In the companion piece to this post, “Listening to Iranians,” I discussed President Trump’s policies so far towards the Islamic Republic of Iran, and recommended where he should go from here. In particular, I urged listening to the Iranian opposition. Overwhelmingly, they wish to see regime change, the oppressive theocracy of the mullahs swept aside, to be replaced by a secular, democratic government. They neither expect, nor want the United States and its allies to overthrow the regime for them; that’s their job. But they do seek help. In the article, I spelled out some of measures they propose.
